There is actually a lot of math that went into this Flux Report. Hybrid Electric vehicles are tricky to quantify in terms of emissions and distance per dollar because there is no standard for how often the car is runs on electricity versus gas. I was lucky to find some usage info gathered by the DOE that showed that people use the electric drive about 75% of the time.
